The problem
In almost every lab where there is a a microscope, there is a need to document images. But the needs varies largely for different labs and organizations. In the easiest case you probably just want to capture one or a few images, save it to file, and later use them in some kind of report. In the more advanced scenario, you might have requirement to document all samples analyzed, with thousands or even hundred of thousands images per year.
Almost certainly you want to share your images with others and even with other labs or departments in your organization.
Our products can do all the above. This article is to explain which products might suit you best.
Versatility
Modular BASED
Pixara is a highly modular based system, where you purchase the modules you need. Not only does this give you a cheaper solution, the usability is easier since you do not need to find your way around in menus you never use. At any point in time, you can add additional modules in case your need changes.
Without any of the modules, you can load images, calibrate images, do simple measurements as well as basic image processing (such as crop, flip) etc.
Listed here is the available modules in short:
CAPTURE ModulE
Allow you to connect a live video camera and capture images. Pixara is compatible with "any" Direct Show camera, but we highly recommend IDS cameras for best user experience and image quality. The capture module you also enables you to define calibrated input devices (such as a microscope) and calibrate each magnification.
DATABASE MODULE
Organize all you images into cases, add user configurable text data and keep your measurements together with the image it was measured on. Share your data with other users. Search for cases using whatever information you have.
ANALYSIS MODULE
By default simple interactive calibrated measurement tools such as length and area is included. With the Analysis module you add on more advanced interactive measurements such as Radius, Angle and Count tool.
With the analysis module you also enables the software to view measurement in a result table, Export to Excel, show Statistics and save result to database, etc
OBJECT ANALYSIS MODULE
With this module you add support for measuring objects, determined by their gray scale level. Measure features such as object size, object width, number of objects and area fraction. Exclude objects not fulfilling a given criteria, such as touching the edge etc.
SCRIPT MODULE
Allows you to create and run powerful scripts for advanced image processing and image analysis. The scripts can be developed by you in a drag-and-drop fashion. Alternatively you can purchase any of the already made script for standard applications or have us or one of our partners develop a custom script for you.
WELD MODULE
Adds support for Weld measurements.
Grain Size MODULE
Adds support for grain size measurements according to ASTM-112
HARDNESS MODULE
Adds support for hardness measurements (of single indents) using Vickers or Knoop method
MULTI FOCUS MODULE
Allow you to construct one focused images, out of several images taken on a non-flat surface.
MONTAGE MODULE
Allow you to construct one large overview image/montage, out of several images taken at various locations.
MOTORIZED STAGE MODULE
Allows you to run the scripts together with motorized stage
