The problem
In almost every lab where there is a a microscope, there is a need to document images. But the needs varies largely for different labs and organizations. In the easiest case you probably just want to capture one or a few images, save it to file, and later use them in some kind of report. In the more advanced scenario, you might have requirement to document all samples analyzed, with thousands or even hundred of thousands images per year.
Almost certainly you want to share your images with others and even with other labs or departments in your organization.
Our products can do all the above. This article is to explain which products might suit you best.
MONTAGE MODULE
StITCH MULTIPLE IMAGE
In microscopy, even the lowest magnification objective often cannot capture an entire sample in one frame.
The Picsara Montage Module automatically stitches multiple overlapping images into a single large overview — giving you full-sample context without sacrificing resolution. The algorithm handles shifted or rotated tiles, making it compatible with both traditional light microscopes and stereo microscopes, with or without a motorized stage.

Key FEatures
● No Motorized Stage Required
Works with any microscope setup — manual stage, encoded stage or fully motorized. The algorithm aligns tiles using image content alone.
● Shift & Rotation Tolerant
Handles tiles that are shifted, slightly rotated or unevenly spaced — robust for stereo microscopes and freehand capture.
● Automatic Overlap Detection
Detects and blends overlapping image regions seamlessly, eliminating visible seams in the final composite.
● Any Magnification
Stitch images captured at any objective — use higher magnifications for detail while still building a full-sample overview.
● High-Resolution Output
The stitched image retains the full pixel resolution of each individual frame — no quality loss from downsampling.
● Simple Grid or Free Capture
Capture tiles in a regular grid pattern or freehand — Picsara finds the best alignment either way.
